Wood chopping and fire making workshop for women

Location: Nagymaros-Visegrád (35 minutes from Nyugati train station and a 10 minute walk)

Where is our strength coming from?
How can we use the elements of nature, the laws of physics and our somatic awareness in order to chop wood safely, as efficiently and with as little energy investment as possible?

Our aim with this workshop is to teach the participating woman how to chop wood with an axe, lighting and sustaining fire, while being rooted in our bodies, embodying our strength and concentrating capacity in a supportive female community.

Working with a sharp axe requires concentration and being constantly in the present. This is the epitome of „country mindfullness“, a basic survival tool known from ancient times.

In order to do this, we focus on
– being anchored in our bodies, strengthening
– our relation to the ground, gravity and weight
– balance, embodying the power in our hips
– the momentum and the appropriate posture
– intention and taking aim

At the end of the workshop, we will have a sharing circle, in order to reflect on our feelings, thoughts, potential fears arising during chopping wood and our collective stories as woman.

The agenda of the workshop:

arrival, introductions
warmup, moving our bodies
lerning the chopping technique
practice in 2 groups, while the others play wood themed games
lighting fire in the fireplace
sharing circle, eating and drinking around the fire

We will await you with tea, wine and vegan hot soup

Nagymaros is in a scenic little town at the bend of the Danube, a 35 minute train ride away from the Nyugati railway station in Budapest.
