ABOUT THE EVENT
In a world where our bodies are constantly regulated, silenced, medicalized, sexualized, or made invisible, finding support for our joy and pleasure is a radical act of resistance.
Held as part of the Feminist Festival, this immersive encounter will invite participants to a somatic exploration of the pelvis as a place of support, connection, memory, vitality, and resistance. Through movement, somatic practices, play, reflection, and conversation, we will create a safe space to listen to the body’s intelligence—individually and collectively—and to reconnect with forms of knowledge that are often excluded from dominant narratives.
What the gathering includes:
• Two somatic workshops led by Flora Mariah and Ágnes Grélinger
• One roundtable conversation connecting bodily experience with cultural, political, and historical perspectives
Together, we will explore how the pelvis relates to: – grounding and support – movement and expression – vulnerability and strength – pleasure, creativity, and intuition – individual and collective memory.
This is a space for slowing down, listening, sensing, and reclaiming the body as a site of agency and connection.
Hips don’t lie collective is: Nóra Barna, Flora Mariah, Dóri Czakó and Ágnes Grélinger
ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS
10:00 – 12:00 – Flora Mariah — “Encouraging Practices From the Pelvis”
How do our bodies relate to the ground in a world that constantly pulls us upward, forward, and away from ourselves? This somatic movement practice explores the pelvis as a gateway to reorganise the body from the ground up. Through guided movement and sensory awareness, participants will investigate three levels of support: the ground, internal support, and the collective environment. The practice invites the rediscovery of pleasure, joy, and intuitive intelligence as essential — and political — resources for being in the world.
12:00 – 12:30 — Lunch Break
12:30 – 14:30 — Ágnes Grélinger – “The only way out is through”
My interest in the pelvis was born from a desire to reconnect with my roots, to embody the balance of grounding and liberation, and to release years of pain. I was curious about what was behind the symptom, what was the story my body was trying to tell me. What was the source and the sequence of change.
During the time we have together, I would like to share and evoke experiences that were born from my research revolving around this vitally important body part.
What wants to come to our consciousness; what’s the priority of the body – individual and collective- that wants to be revealed?
What stories does the body want to tell right now?
What’s ready to be expressed, heard, released?
How can we use our body as a channel to transform our reality?
Through guided movement and somatic practices, theoretical sharing, meditation and drawing we will explore what it means to reconnect to our bodies’ innate wisdom, ancestral knowledge and memory. We’ll have time to have conversations around the themes that will emerge from the depth of our centre: the power and softness of our pelvis. Through our attention we are bending time and space; expanding our capacity to imagine, to create and open up new pathways to respond.
Come as you are; no former movement experience is necessary.
Important note: even though this is not a therapeutic space, the topic we are exploring is sensitive, intimate and might bring up vulnerable stories and memories. As a Bodytalk practitioner I’m equipped to a certain level to hold space and while we are most focused on artistic exploration and the healing/transformative potential of art, in case it is needed, we are open to guide anyone who might need further assistance to the professionals with the appropriate training.
