Queer & Cozy Film Night: Blue Jean (2022)
Come and join us for a chill movie night! For our monthly queer movie night as a part of the CSAK Feminist festival, we’re bringing you the British drama “Blue Jean” (2022)!
Blue Jean is a 2022 drama directed by Georgia Oakley, set in Britain in 1988 during the Thatcher government and Section 28, which banned the “promotion of homosexuality” in schools. The film’s protagonist, Jean (Rosy McEwen), is a reserved high school physical education teacher who takes great care to keep her private life secret in order to protect her job. However, after running into one of her new students, Loïs, in a queer bar, she finds herself in a difficult situation and must choose between remaining hidden to protect her job or standing up for the truth and protecting the vulnerable young girl instead of herself. The story sensitively presents the political environment of the time through a personal story and explores topics that are still relevant in Hungary today.
The film will be screened in its original (English) language with Hungarian subtitles.
If you want to unwind at the end of the week, have a good chat, or just relax while watching a quiet film, come to the Auróra’s Nagyterem!

Feel free to bring anything that helps you relax: nail polish, a book, yarn if you knit or crochet, and of course your friends. Pets are also welcome!
Popcorn is available at the bar alongside the usual drinks, while supplies last.
The program is open to everyone.
