Rendetlen Hímzőkör – Stitch-And-Bitch
The Sitch-and-Bitch Embroidery Circle is based on two fundamental ideas: society’s perception of female anger, and embroidery as an art form. Nowadays, women who swear, get angry, or generally do not behave in a pleasant and compliant manner are still too often viewed with disapproval. Added to this is the fact that embroidery is considered a “feminine” hobby, so it is not necessarily taken seriously, and on the other hand it is often viewed with benevolent condescension. However, the fact is that, like all art, embroidery can convey a powerful message.
That’s why at the Sitch-and-Bitch Embroidery Circle, we embroider our anger, our outrage, or simply a very satisfying curse word. I will bring colorful Aida fabric, about 100 different colors of thread (including some that glow in the dark), and several types of embroidery fonts. I will provide all the necessary tools and materials on site, but don’t worry if you’ve never held a needle before, I will explain, teach, show, and support you every step of the way.
The workshop is suitable for children, but as there may be some swearing involved, it is up to the parent(s) to decide whether their children are mature enough for this.
In order to give everyone the attention and support they need, I have to limit the number of participants. I will be running two sessions, 14-16h (max. 15 people) and 16-18h (max. 10 people).
If you are a beginner or feel that you work more slowly, please sign up for the first session so you can continue to work during the second session. In any case, if you are not able to finish your work, don’t worry, I’ll give you enough thread so you can finish it at home.
